This Genie remote digital transmitter has 12 internal set switches  with a 390 MHz frequency.   Match these set switches to the same set switch settings as the radio receiver (external receiver is GR390, or internal receiver A12  / 20285R) on the ceiling in the garage to operate the garage door opener.   See Things to Consider When Installing This Product, below, for locating the receiver. Note:   Canada  was using  a different frequency (315 MHz) for the GT90, GT912 and GT90-3 type remotes.   Starting approximately 5 years ago Genie switched to the 390 MHz frequency shown on the present units.   Check your remote for the correct frequency for your garage door opener.   For the Canadian Transmitter, see GT912C Canada.

Things to Consider When Installing this Product:

These remote transmitters work by matching the settings on the internal code setting switches with the same set of switches in the receiver on the garage ceiling. The receiver is located either behind the light lens of the Genie motor head (A12 / 20285R), or inside an external small rectangular box on the ceiling (GR390), which is connected to the motor head by a set of wires. Note: the frequency of the transmitter must be the same frequency as the receiver on the ceiling for it to work. Genie has been making the 390 MHz frequency in the US since 1983. In Canada, Genie changed from 315Mhz frequency to 390 MHz in 1993 and into early 1994.
